The LS-345 is used with a power
meter for measuring optical loss on single mode fiber
cable. High laser stability is guaranteed, power output
is unaffected by varying back reflection.
The LS-345 operates on disposable batteries or AC adapter.
A Low battery indication warns the user that battery replacement
is necessary. The optical output is via a top panel FC,
SC, or ST connector. The output may be equipped with other
style connectors upon request.
The center wavelength of the light source is measured
at the point of peak intensity. Light sources emit a range
of wavelengths, not just one. The difference between the
lowest and the highest frequency of light is called the
spectral width. For practical purposes, spectral width
is measured at Full Width-Half Maximum (FWHM); the width
(Full Width) is measured at the point exactly halfway
between zero power and peak power (Half Maximum). Careful
use of this source will provide years of reliable service.
